Of all the books in the Last Reunion series, Dark Web Rising is without a doubt the grimmest.I have been aware of the deep web for some time, having even gone so far as to dive in and take a look around once. I did not like what I saw there. I did not understand it too well at the time either.
Despite being a work of fiction, Dark Web Rising is solidly “hard” science fiction. As a result, the description of the technology and the nature of that dark corner of the internet is tremendously realistic, allowing one to understand how the Lords of the Underworld (usually) get away with their crimes, and how they (sometimes) get caught.
Hebe, the addictive drug that has taken our dystopian future by storm, has morphed yet again into a different kind of sinister; like the Hydra, every time one pathway of destruction has been cut off, another appears in its place to make “Joe, the Old Man’s” retirement a little more interesting. It appears that Joe, whose fate became intertwined with the drug in the first installment, will now have to accomplish the Herculean task of wiping it out for good.
Any readers could start reading this book and enjoy it immensely despite not having read the previous installments. As someone who has read them all and loved them, however, I recommend that any interested reader start this series from the beginning. Either way, you won’t be disappointed.

Old man Joe is back and stuck in the turmoil of the dark web. This is the fourth books of this series.You can read it as a stand alone or better yet, grab then all and take the journey into what our future could be.There is a drug called HEBE that has different levels that do different things. One can make you grow younger, around 25, but another can make you into a 10 year old and that's what happens to Linda Rees or Linda Hopkins, the other name she uses. People giving Linda the drug are actually more into child pornography and the video has Joe trying to solve the crime. The author writes the stories, this one and the three before it with humor, horror, conspiracy and suspense. He also makes you think the big question what if...?
